Establishment of MWPNC:
The Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium (MWPNC) was established in 2004 due to an identified need:
The Pediatric Nephrology literature was full of interesting hypotheses and novel treatments but very few reports had sufficient numbers of patients to truly drive improvements in clinical practice.
MWPNC Mission:
To Improve and promote high quality care of pediatric nephrology patients through:
- Facilitating collaborative clinical and translational research
- Defining best clinical practices
- Promoting the career development of our members
MWPNC Aims:
- Develop and perform multi-center retrospective clinical and translational studies addressing important clinical problems faced by nephrologists
- To develop and perform multi-center prospective clinical and translational studies addressing important clinical problems unable to be adequately addressed at a single center.
- Provide opportunities for pediatric nephrology fellows and junior faculty to become involved in multi-center clinical and translational studies and publications to enhance their career development.
Current Statistics:
We have made outstanding progress towards achieving these aims and are continuing to take even greater strides as others join our efforts.
